A hydroponic tomato greenhouse in the heart of Tel Aviv University. This greenhouse was designed for two uses - growing hydroponic tomatoes and a student learning and sitting space. The greenhouse uses the tubular element of the hydroponic system as the constructive core of the structure. The greenhouse is 50 square meters, built entirely of iron pipes upon which a shell of ETFE cushions is laid, and allows for a direct interface between the visitor and its technology and products. In order to create an ideal growing environment for tomatoes, along with temperatures that will not make it uncomfortable for students sitting inside, the greenhouse is designed in the form of a funnel facing the windiest area of the site. The entire western side opens to admit airflow in order to lower humidity and heat. The ETFE cushions that cover the greenhouse are ordered according to the size most appropriate for regulating the temperatures inside of the building.
